In living memory of Sandy Hook

There’s an emptiness in my heart
The feeling is quite fatigued. So much unhappiness in the world. When can we all be relieved of this restlessness & unease causing all this commotion. I call out to the Universe, God, Bhudda, Ali, dieties all. Hear the cries of the millions. The children of creation. Feel the noise & heartaches. Bless them all and wipe their tears. Clean their slates and let them be the creatures they’re meant to be. Lovingness & kindness to warm each others souls. Pay it forward to all mankind, so much love is needed.

Politics within a Modern Family

Last night my significant other & I went to a Relationship seminar taught by the Pastor who we are helping sell the Church they are a part of. It was actually quite intriguing. I liked how he showed us to look at relationships from a different perspective. It wasn’t just relationships with husband & wife or boyfriend & girlfriend but relationships with everyone. I’ll be sending the older kids to this to his next sessions. During this first session he asked us to write down items that we feel would be conflicting on our scales of importance in a relationship. My husband kept writing down Food on his items…??? I was thinking maybe it was because he came from Albania and they were a communist country. I didn’t want to say anything yet until I finish the class & get more insight on how to relay these non agreeable items to the significant other. :). Albanians supposedly are divided in religion as mostly Greek Orthodox, Muslim & the rest are non religious. Don’t quote me on that tho. Oltions family came from the non religious. I grew up in the North America Presbyterian. I am of Asian decent, Yao Mien to be precise. Chinese descendants. When I was 22 years old, after my own soul searching, I became Buddhist. My eldest, Keora belongs to a Christian church & I support her beliefs. It is my thought that whichever God or Deity you follow, as long as you are doing good & good unto others, your faith is your choice. Even if they are my children. It is the same with Politics. It’s what you feel works for you.
Keora is 18 now and registered to vote this year. She told me am while we were watching the debate after our Relationship class that she won’t vote because she doesn’t like either candidate. This is the first I heard if this. It’s no wonder our Country is in chaos. :). We both told her that’s why she has to study everything the opponents are talking about and pick the best of the two. The lessor of the two evils one could say. We made it her homework and encourage both Keora & Kian to listen on to all the debates coming up as well. I believe my children should have their own choices on religion & politics.
Family laws on the other hand are a different story. There are no liberals here. Parents are parents & kids, even tho they are 18 now, as long as they are living in this house are to abide house rules. This seems to get forgotten in the mist of our hectic lives. This is where the Relationship seminar may be key. Pastor Darren will be seeing us a lot more then he expected. Our Modern family needs and update on how the traditional family ideals are pretty important.
